Overview

The HP StorageWorks Rack-Mount Kits provide a high density, rack-mountable tape drive solution for both direct-attach SCSI, USB, or SAS backup and archiving applications. The Rack-Mount Kit family is ideal for customers who have rack environments and are looking for a tape backup solution with a small footprint.

The HP StorageWorks 1U SAS Rack-Mount Kit is 5 of 6 RoHS compliant and supports the Ultrium SAS internal tape drive. With two Ultrium 448 SAS drives this enclosure can provide up to 800GB capacity in one back-up with a data transfer rate of up to 345GB/hr.

The HP StorageWorks 1U USB Rack-Mount Kit is 5 of 6 ROHS compliant and supports DAT 24 USB, DAT 40 USB and DAT 72 USB internal tape drives. With two DAT 72USB drives, this enclosure solution can provide 144 GB of storage per backup in a 1U space.

The HP StorageWorks 1U SCSI Rack-Mount Kit is 5 of 6 ROHS compliant and supports the DAT 24, DAT 40, DAT 72, Ultrium 215, 232, Ultrium 448, Ultrium 920, or DLT VS 80 standard internal tape drives. With two Ultrium 920 tape drives and 120 MB/second performance, this enclosure solution can provide up to 1.6TB compressed capacity.

The HP StorageWorks 3U Rack-Mount Kit is 5 of 6 ROHS compliant and holds up to two full-height internal tape drives, four half-height tape drives, or a combination of one full-height and two half-height tape drives. With four Ultrium 920 drives (assuming 2:1 data compression) this enclosure solution can provide a maximum capacity of 3.2TB.

HP StorageWorks Rack-Mount kits are supported on HP ProLiant and AlphaServer platforms. HP StorageWorks DAT and Ultrium drives support HP StorageWorks One Button Disaster Recovery (OBDR) which allows you to restore your entire system at the touch of a button without the need for system disks or software CDs, and HP StorageWorks Library and Tape Tools (L&TT) which helps make installation, management, and troubleshooting easier.

The 1U USB Rack-Mount Kit with one DAT 72 USB drive provides a convenient migration path for customers who are looking for a transition product from the DAT 72 hot plug drives.

High Density: The HP Rack-Mount Kits are ideal for customers who have limited space in their rack as it allows for a smaller footprint leaving valuable space for other key components in the datacenter.

Scalability: The 1U rack enclosure can hold one single drive. One additional drive can be added when needed. The 3U rack enclosure can hold two full height drives, four half-height drives, or one full and two half-height drives.

Ability to mix technologies: The 1U and 3U Rack-Mount Kits allow users to mix a variety of tape technologies, including DAT, DLT VS, SDLT, and half height and full height Ultrium drives.

Supports standard internal tape drives: The enclosures support standard internal drives. No extra module is needed.

ROHS compliant: The Rack-Mount Kits are all ROHS compliant (meets 2006 European legislation for removal of hazardous substances.)

USB interface: The 1U USB Rack-Mount Kit is an industry first for enclosures; this solution will allow customers alternative methods to connecting HP USB tape drives to servers, in addition to internal and table top models.

SAS Interface: The 1U SAS Rack-Mount Kit is an industry first for enclosures. Customers will now be able to rack-mount SAS tape drives providing an alternative to internal models in racked environments.

SCSI Interface: The 1U SCSI Rack-Mount Kit allow customers alternative methods to connecting HP SCSI tape drives to servers, in addition to internal and table top models.

Factory Integration: Rack-Mount Kits can be factory integrated into HP racks with ProLiant Servers.
